COMING OUT OF THE DARK BOOK LAUNCH AT THE CRESCENT ARTS CENTRE

21/11/2018

East Belfast author Anna Gray last week launched her new book Coming Out Of The Dark at The Crescent Arts Centre in Belfast.

In this book Anna shares with you the darkest days in her life and how she overcame them to transform her life into one filled with joy and self-love again.

If you have ever experienced difficult and painful challenges in life, if you have had to dig deep to find immense strength within you just to survive or if you can’t find where that strength is inside anymore, then this book will appeal to you.

Touching on issues such as Bullying, Domestic Violence, Sexual Issues, Addiction and Self Harm – You can read about the journey Anna went through to come out of the dark and to become a qualified counsellor and spiritual healing practitioner.

Explaining the story behind Coming Out Of The Dark, Anna says “This is my story of ‘Transformation’. I have lived in Belfast for most of my life, spending some time living in Dublin with my family when I was younger and a little time living in Scotland too. It was important to me that this book is more than just a story of my life, because the issues that I write about throughout it are bigger than me and touch so many people’s lives every day. I wanted to offer my story and to address some of these larger issues from the perspective of what I have learned about them, both personally and professionally”.

“My hope is that in reading about my life, you will come to know that transformation is possible for you and for the people you love and hold dear to you. I sincerely hope that my own experiences will speak to you somehow and, at the very least, offer some kind of comfort and inspiration to you. With an open heart, I will share with you an honest account of my own struggles and pain and how I overcame them. I don’t account for everything that ever happened in my life, for every year that passed or for every lesson learned – to do so would take a lot more than one book. However, the major and important landmarks, as I see them, are there and they are all true for me and fairly represented”.

“I have been to what felt like the depths of hell and I have returned from the mountain with a message. It’s one of hope. I deeply desired to write this book for a number of years, but something inside me always knew that when the time was right, I would be shown very clearly the time was right and that the timing would be perfect. I trusted that and, thank goodness, it all beautifully fell into place. I knew I had to be ready, to come out of the dark, to tell my life as it really was and is, to step into the light. There’s a big difference you see, in knowing it all inside and feeling transformed and actually telling people about it, allowing people into the dirty corners of my life that have remained hidden and covered in spiders’ webs”.

“I could take the leap or not, it was in my hands. I honestly felt I was standing on the edge of a cliff. I knew if I didn’t fully invest myself in this that I would regret it for the rest of my life. So I trusted and I jumped. And I’m so glad I did. The years of pain, abuse, guilt, shame and ultimate healing and transformation are laid out in my book There have been many layers of fears to work through to get them onto paper, fear of judgement, of shocking the people who know me – the ultimate fear of being ‘seen’ in my entirety. No matter what, it’s worth it, for you to be able to read this and for the possibility of it helping someone else. Yes, it is a story about me, but it’s one that so many people may resonate with and I trust that it will reach the people who need to read it. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it”.
