Our Social Space, located in East Belfast, has launched ‘The Juke Yard’, made possible by Belfast City Airport’s Community Fund.

The project has transformed an unused concrete yard into a vibrant biodiversity hub and outdoor learning space where local residents can take part in workshops that enhance the surrounding area, promote wellbeing, and strengthen community connections.

Bronagh O’Kane, Community Fund Ambassador at Belfast City Airport, said:

“As an airport in the heart of the city, we’re committed to investing in the people and organisations that help our community flourish. Through our Community Fund, we support initiatives that inspire participation, unlock potential, and deliver long-term benefits.

“The enthusiasm and commitment shown by Our Social Space has been remarkable, and we’re proud to have played a part in bringing this vision to life, enriching East Belfast for years to come.”

Belfast City Airport has invested £781,852 in 262 local projects across Greater Belfast and North Down and is on track to achieve its commitment to invest £1 million in the local community by 2028, with an ambition to double this by 2040.

Carrie Montgomery, CEO at Our Social Space Ltd, added:

“We are delighted to see ‘The Juke Yard’ come to life and to create a space where people can come together, learn and enjoy making a positive difference.

“Thanks to Belfast City Airport’s Community Fund, we have turned an idea into reality, and we look forward to seeing the benefit it will have on the community and environment for years to come.”
