Be a Claus for a good cause with Cash for Kids!

23/11/2017

Now in its sixth year, the Cash for Kids Santa Dash Belfast City is set to ‘paint the town red’ with a sea of Santa suits on Sunday 3rd December.

Attracting hundreds of participants of all ages and abilities, for the first time it will be possible to choose between the original 2.5k dash led by Santa in his sleigh – and a new verified 5k city centre route. Participants will receive a free Santa suit – with a finisher’s medal for 5k race runners.

Taking in some of Belfast’s most recognisable landmarks, the activity will kick-off in Writer’s Square where participants will don a Santa suit and begin their walk, jog, run or dash around the city.

With money raised through the registration fee and sponsorship helping to support disadvantaged children from across Northern Ireland, Cash for Kids Charity Manager, Stephanie Laverty, explains the importance of the activity for the charity:

“The Cash for Kids Santa Dash kicks off Christmas in Belfast and, as well as being a fun family day out, is essential in raising money for some of the most vulnerable children in NI during the Christmas period and beyond.

“With registration from as little as £7.50, Santa Dash participants are able to choose the nominated charity they would like Cash for Kids to support with their funds – and we are particularly excited to launch the new timed 5k run this year to widen the appeal of this already popular event.”

The Santa Dash will be managed on the day by Athletics Northern Ireland. Catherine Ashford, Event Manager for Athletics Northern Ireland, added:

“The Cash for Kids Santa Dash 5k will be a great way for runners to work on their personal best in the new timed route – albeit in a Santa suit! From those who run on a regular basis to beginners, the event will offer everyone an opportunity to get involved – and raise funds for young people in need of support across Northern Ireland.”
