You’re in for a Cracker this Christmas as Christmas Eve Can Kill You Returns to Theatre at The Mill

19/10/2026

Christmas chaos is set to descend on Theatre at The Mill in Newtownabbey this festive season as Christmas Eve Can Kill You returns from 26 November 2026 to 3 January 2027.

Written by Olivier Award-winning playwright Marie Jones, well-known for her successful plays ‘Stones in His Pockets,’’A Night in November’ and ‘Women on the Verge of HRT,’ this hilarious Christmas comedy returns to Theatre at The Mill promising audiences plenty of laughs, mayhem and festive craic. The audience joins Mackers, a likeable and funny taxi driver in his 40s, as he takes to the roads on Christmas Eve. While most people are busy celebrating, Mackers would rather be behind the wheel, working his shift and avoiding the seasonal festivities. But as the night unfolds, a colourful cast of local characters climb into his taxi, each bringing their own humorous and revealing snapshot of life at Christmas. Set in Antrim and Newtownabbey, this updated Northern Irish Christmas classic promises an entertaining night out filled with chaos, laughter and plenty of adult humour.

Commenting on the show, Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Henry Cushinan, said: “Christmas Eve Can Kill You is set to be a fun night out for anyone looking to get together with friends or colleagues and get into the festive spirit this season. With its local setting, fantastic cast and plenty of laughs, it’s sure to be a Christmas highlight.”

Writer Marie Jones added: “We are delighted to bring Christmas Eve Can Kill You back to Theatre at The Mill. This production promises to be as chaotic as ever, with lots of laughs and adult humour as we explore the strains and stresses of Christmas Eve.”

The show features an award-winning cast including Brendan Quinn (BBC Blue Lights and Netflix series One Day), Mary Moulds (BBC Blue Lights and Line of Duty), Michael Condron (Game of Thrones, and Coronation Street), Patrick McBreaty (BBC Blue Lights and HBO’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms) and Sioban Kelly (Bloodlands, Betrayal of Trust and Netflix series Vikings.)

Don’t miss your chance to experience the Christmas craic and join Mackers for a Christmas Eve he won’t forget.
