The Outcasts will lead a stellar line-up at Limelight 2 on December 23
It wouldn’t be Christmas without an epic Belfast punk party – and this year The Outcasts are back with a very special event.
The legendary punk band, famous for hits like The Cops are Coming and Just Another Teenage Rebel, are joining music icon Terri Hooley as he celebrates his 75th birthday at Limelight 2 on December 23.
Formed in 1977, The Outcasts are legends on the Belfast music scene having signed with Terri Hooley’s infamous Good Vibrations record label. Embracing their bad-boy image, The Outcasts came to represent the beating heart of Belfast’s thriving punk scene at its height.
The band’s much-anticipated Christmas bash comes at the end of an incredible year for The Outcasts which saw the foursome complete their first ever world tour, performing for the first time in the US, Canada, Portugal and Sweden as well as Germany, France, the UK and Ireland.
In more highlights for the scene, Good Vibrations the stage show enjoyed a hit run not only in Belfast’s Grand Opera House, but in The Irish Arts Center in New York too.
Greg Cowan, lead vocalist with The Outcasts, said: “It’s been a really exciting year for all of us involved in the punk scene here in Northern Ireland, and we can’t wait to round it all off with a Christmas party that’s bigger and better than ever.
“We’ve got an amazing line-up, and it’ll be a real joy to celebrate with Terri as he not only takes to the decks for a brilliant DJ set, but marks his 75th birthday too.”
Joining the line-up will be The Brian Young Band and punk Irish trad band Johnny Hash.
Greg added: “We can’t wait to get everyone together for a night of great craic and the very best of punk music, just in time for Christmas. It’s become a bit of a festive tradition for us now, and this one will be extra special as Belfast punk fans get the chance get together for some birthday celebrations with the legend that is Terri Hooley.”
The Good Vibrations Christmas Party will be at Limelight 2, Belfast on Saturday December 23. Doors open at 6pm. Tickets are available ticketmaster.ie and shine.net.
