Calor appoints new Chief Executive Officer Sytze Nijman

17/08/2026

Calor, a leading supplier of gas for homes and businesses across Northern Ireland, has announced the appointment of Sytze Nijman as Chief Executive Officer.

Sytze joined Calor in September 2025 as Chief Operating Officer, having previously served as Chief Operating Officer of SunSource, a SHV Energy company, where he played a key role in driving growth and leading the successful integration of the business within SHV Energy.

Sytze brings several decades of experience leading business transformation programmes, growth initiatives, and acquisition integrations across multiple international markets, including Europe, Brazil, and India, within the energy and industrial services sectors. Across the SHV group, he has also held key leadership positions as Managing Director at ERIKS in Belgium and Project Manager at Supergasbras in Brazil.

As CEO, Sytze will lead Calor’s next phase of growth in Northern Ireland, with a focus on innovation, operational excellence, customer experience, and strengthening the company’s role in supporting Northern Ireland’s energy transition. The appointment comes as the business continues to invest significantly in its operations to support growth and customer service across Northern Ireland.

Sytze succeeds Duncan Osborne, who steps down after leading Calor as Chief Executive Officer for seven years, during which time he successfully guided the business through significant operational growth and the initial rollout of renewable energy initiatives.

Sytze Nijman, Chief Executive Officer of Calor, said: “It is a privilege to take on the role of CEO at Calor. Calor has a proud heritage, an exceptional team, and a vital role to play in supporting Northern Ireland’s energy transition. My priority is to build on the strong foundations already in place, driving sustainable growth while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

“We will continue to strengthen the customer experience by investing in innovation, digital technologies, and solutions that make it easier to do business with us. Working alongside our employees, customers, and partners, I look forward to building on Calor’s success and presence in Northern Ireland in creating long-term value for all our stakeholders.”

A Dutch native, Sytze holds an MSc in Business Administration from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands.
