On Friday 7th June Grosvenor Grammar School was delighted to welcome John Bercow MP, Speaker of the House of Commons, who took time out of his busy schedule to visit the School.
The visit was part of Mr Bercow’s outreach programme, visiting schools across the United Kingdom. Mr Bercow answered many questions from pupils, ranging from the difficulty in remaining politically impartial, to his favourite football team.
Mr Bercow remarked positively on the excellent behaviour of Grosvenor’s pupils on the day, as well as their high standard of questioning. His address focused on the importance of perseverance and working hard to achieve positive change in our society.
Following the question and answer session, Mr Bercow met with Miss Rainey OBE, Chairperson of the Board of Governors; Dr Vasey, Principal; Ruth Sellar, Head Girl; Tyler Smith, Deputy Head Boy; Senior Leadership and teachers of Government and Politics within GGS.
The Principal was delighted that Mr Bercow included Grosvenor Grammar School in his busy schedule and commented: ‘ Our pupils received a master class in the art of excellent communication skills from Mr Bercow. He is such an engaging speaker and it was a fantastic opportunity for all of us to meet him and benefit from his vast knowledge of the political world.’
