SLIM’S SET TO BANISH THE JANUARY BLUES WITH ITS ANNUAL FREE PORRIDGE WEEK!

As storms batter our shores what better way to start a cold, windy January morning than with a warming bowl of free porridge from Slim’s Healthy Kitchen to set you up for the day ahead.

All this week both restaurants located on Lisburn Road and Belmont Road in Belfast will dish out complimentary porridge every morning to fuel your body, particularly if you’re going to the gym or on your way to work.

The porridge week initiative now in its third year will see Slim’s Kitchen team up with Co. Armagh based White’s Oats and Linwoods.  The old-school winter warmer has made a comeback in recent years due to the 100% wholegrain oats packed with vitamins and antioxidants plus an excellent source of fibre and protein.

Gary McIldowney of Slim’s Kitchen said, “Sometimes we’re just too busy to eat a proper breakfast opting for a quick coffee or sugar filled cereal bar instead, so we’re helping to keep those new year resolutions on track with a free bowl of porridge. It’s low in fat, virtually sugar free plus it’ll keep you filled until lunchtime.  We have had massive support over the last number of years throughout porridge week, its brings a bit of fun to bleak January.”

Danielle Mc Bride, Brand Manager from White’s said, ‘’Mornings can be really busy getting ready for work but it’s important to make time for breakfast. January is a great time for a renewed focus on healthy eating and this year we’re delighted to partner with Slim’s and Porridge Week, encouraging everyone to start their New Year by adding the mighty oat to their diet. White’s has been passionately milling the distinctively creamy taste of White’s Oats in Co. Armagh since 1841. Naturally high in fibre with a low GI index, oats keep us fuller for longer, helping to keep snacking at bay, and with four times the amount of fibre as refined grains they help maintain a healthy digestive system. With so many nutritious benefits it’s easy to see why it’s become the latest ‘in’ healthy breakfast.’’

Customers can avail of White’s porridge made with almond milk and topped with Linwoods Milled Flaxseed, Sunflower Pumpkin & Sesame Seeds and Goji berries instore or pre-order online for collection at www.slimskitchen.com

Slim’s Healthy Kitchen Porridge Week fuelled by White’s Oats and Linwoods runs from Monday 8th to Sunday 14th January.
