LITTLE WING LAUNCHES SEARCH FOR THE ‘PICASSO OF PIZZA’

Some of Northern Ireland’s best-known faces have created their very own pizza box art, as part of a special initiative to celebrate homegrown pizzeria Little Wing’s 10th anniversary.

Channelling their inner artists, boxer Carl Frampton, radio presenter Pete Snodden, comedian Paddy Rafferty, TV personality Pamela Ballantine and graffiti artist Dean Kane (Visual Waste) have created their own distinct pizza box masterpieces.

Now, Little Wing is calling on members of the public to get involved, by creating their very own pizza box art for the chance to win a £2,000 cash prize.

The competition is open to anyone who wants a slice of the action; there are no limitations as to what can be drawn; whether it’s a simple doodle to an oil painting, street art style graffiti, a collage or felt tip/crayon masterpiece, the options are endless. There are no extra points if the Little Wing brand is incorporated into the creation, however designs featuring the pizzeria’s brand may also be considered for use on pizza boxes for an entire year.

Little Wing has become a firm family favourite since first opening its doors in 2010. In the last 10 years, its pizzerias have served up almost 4 million made-to- order Naples-styles pizzas; invested over £5million to expand the brand across Northern Ireland; and raised over £150,000 to support community initiatives. Little Wing has nine restaurants in Holywood, Bangor, Newtownards, Enniskillen, Lisburn, Lisburn Road, Belfast, Ann Street, Belfast, Ballyhackamore in East Belfast and Whiteabbey and employs 195 people.

Commenting on the 10th anniversary and the launch of the Little Wing Pizza Box Art competition, Luke Wolsey, managing director, Little Wing said: “When we opened our first restaurant on Ann Street in Belfast city centre, we never imagined just how quickly it would grow and that a decade later, we would be serving communities across nine locations, some over 100 miles apart.

“We’ve experienced many highlights – winning various awards like ‘Best Belfast Pizzeria’ and ‘Best Family Restaurant’ have been a real testament to our reputation. To celebrate our 10th birthday, we wanted to continue to put the communities that our restaurants serve at the heart of our plans, so we hope people will join with us and create their own Little Wing pizza box art to mark the occasion.

“As we look ahead to the next 10 years, further expansion in both the North and South of Ireland is already on the agenda for the next decade and we’re also planning to launch our first Little Wing Pizza Truck, which will allow us to offer mobile dining at local events and further afield.”

The Little Wing pizza box art competition launches on Monday 27th January and is open to all ages. Unbranded pizza boxes can be collected from any of Little Wing’s nine restaurants and must be returned before Monday 9th March. The winner will be announced at the end of March.

Pizza lovers can avail of a range of 10th birthday celebratory offers across Little Wing’s nine restaurants over the next seven weeks. Offers include free dessert with all Little Wing Little Bill meals between Monday 3rd February – Wednesday 5th February; a pizza and prosecco night on Thursday 13th February, where diners can enjoy any two 11’ pizzas and a bottle of Prosecco for £30; and £5 calzones all week from Monday 2nd March until Sunday 8th March.
