The Currabinny Cookbook by James Kavanagh and William Murray and published by Penguin Ireland is the recipient of the “2018 Listowel Food Fair Book of the Year” Award – In Association with Hodges Figgis. James Kavanagh and William Murray were presented with a specially designed vase by Tipperary Crystal at Hodges Figgis by former Minister for Food and Chairman of Listowel Food Fair Jimmy Deenihan to mark their achievement.

The 2018 Listowel Food Fair judging panel voted on The Currabinny Cook Book because of its creative and accessible recipes, its design and photography and its emphasis on traditional ingredients with a modern application.

Speaking about the award Festival Chairman Jimmy Deenihan said:

“On behalf of Listowel Food Fair we are delighted to announce the 2018 Listowel Food Fair Book of the Year to be “The Currabinny Cookbook” by James Kavanagh and William Murray. The Listowel Food Fair decided to introduce “The Food Book of the Year Award” in 2008, in recognition of Listowel’s long literary tradition and Listowel’s home to Ireland’s premier literary festival, the Listowel Writers Week. The first inaugural winner of the Listowel Food Fair Book of the Year Award was “Cornucopia at Home” by Eleanor Heffernan. The Currabinny Cookbook is a wonderful publication and I would like to congratulate James and William on their great achievement.”
