Local swimming club, Templemore Amateur Swimming Club will be taking a group of 29 swimmers to two international competitions this summer.

The swimmers aged between 11 and 17 years will be attending either the Stuttgart International Swim Gala in June or the Netherlands Invitational in Eindhoven in July.

Head Coach Ross Gillespie said, “The opportunity to compete abroad alongside swimmers from Europe and further afield is amazing for our swimmers.  As a club, we are committed to developing a life-long love of swimming, and providing opportunities to compete outside of Ireland and the UK helps us achieve this goal.  Swimmers are not only proud to represent the club at an international competition and win medals , their self-esteem, confidence and team working skills are all increased as a result.”

Club chair Pamela Yeh said, “We wouldn’t have been able to take our swimmers to these competitions, without the generous support of our sponsors, Stothers Ltd, C&H Electrical Ltd, Clarendon Industrial, Digital Fire & Security Ltd, parents and fundraising committee members.  We feel very strongly that these trips help to broaden our swimmers’ horizon, keeps them swimming for longer and supports the Active Belfast strategy of building a healthier city.”
