Local Businesses Grow at Council’s Economic Development Conference

Almost 200 local business owners and employees attended Ards and North Down Borough Council’s ‘Grow’ Economic Development Conference in what was a highly productive business networking event held last week at the Clandeboye Lodge.

Compered by Wendy Austin, the free-to-attend event was organised to help local businesses grow and gave attendees an opportunity to hear from three keynote speakers who each represented successful, recognised brands.

They included: Helena Langdon, former Head of Digital and Communities at Innocent Drinks; Henry Dimbleby, co-founder of Leon ‘naturally fast food’ restaurants; and Tom Verner, Managing Director of Momentum Group, a specialist research and development tax claims company.

The speakers shared their success stories and provided advice to a captivated room of business professionals. Attendees later took the opportunity to discuss issues specific to their local businesses through more personalised interactive group sessions.

The Mayor of Ards and North Down, Alderman Bill Keery, said:

“The conference provided a golden opportunity to tap into the knowledge of three very successful keynote speakers and other industry experts. This will spark more innovation in local business which will aid the creation of jobs and wealth in Ards and North Down, ultimately benefitting everyone in the borough.”
