Freshly Chopped promotes health and wellbeing with Belfast’s first Sweat Party

21/01/2019

Healthy fast food chain Freshly Chopped has announced the launch of Northern Ireland’s first sweat party, a phenomenon from the US that invites people to take part in a group workout session to promote healthy bodies and minds.

The Freshly Chopped Sweat Party will be in aid of AWARE – The Depression Charity for Northern Ireland, and will take place on Saturday 2nd February between 10.00am – 12.30pm.

It will include two grouped based cardio workouts, one at PureGym on Adelaide Street and one at PureGym at St Anne’s Square. The workouts are appropriate for all fitness levels with the emphasis being placed on motivation, camaraderie and fun.

Attendees will kick off the day at Freshly Chopped on Donegall Square West with a fuel-up coffee, and will finish with a recovery brunch at Freshly Chopped on Academy Street.

Gavin Annon, Head of Sales and Marketing at Mount Charles, who own the Freshly Chopped franchise in NI, said: “We’re excited to launch the first of what will hopefully be many Freshly Chopped sweat parties.

“We’ve seen the popularity of these events growing in other cities like London and New York, and thought it’d be brilliant for Belfast, especially at this time of year when people are determined to set the tone for their health and wellbeing in the year ahead.

“Research shows that participation in physical activity can increase self- esteem and reduce stress and anxiety. So whatever your level of fitness, you’re welcome to come along, join in, and leave feeling empowered!” he added.

Clare Galbraith, Fundraising Manger at AWARE said: ‘We are delighted to be the nominated charity receiving a percentage of the ticket sales from the Sweat Party. It looks like it’s going to be a very exciting event but with a very important message. Exercise is known to have a positive effect on a person’s mental wellbeing and helps reduce the risk of depression, stress and anxiety.”

Tickets cost £15 and can be booked by going to Freshly Chopped’s NI Facebook page, Chopped.NI. £5 per ticket sale will be donated to AWARE.
